We are
a collectively run, non-profit graphics workshop based
in Eastern Maine.
We are active in our local community
as well as the international global justice movement.
Our base is the
small coastal town of Machias, the hub of a large,
sparsely populated county with a strong class consciousness
and tradition of self reliance.
We
own and operate a hundred year old Grange, formally
a farmer's meeting hall, rich in the history of the
populist movement's legacy of agricultural and community
organizing.
We
are all volunteers.
Our food is collectively prepared
and acquired by work trade with local organic farmers.
We are mostly
women, and queers, that value building self/esteem
and dismantling art-ego as we reject the ART world…
considering ourselves to be anti-copyright cultural
workers.
Most
of us are focused on sustainability issues and self
employment, while all of us are dreaming of revolution.
The Beehive Collective
is decentralized geographically, you need not move
to Machias to join forces with us!
- YOU

Are anxious
for a healthy, non-hierarchical workplace to carve
out a space for yourself and your projects based on
your own inspiration, physical labor, and self motivation.
