- To establish a year 'round Political
Arts Residency Program. Participants will
receive room, board, access to facilities and a
creative, critical and interactive atmosphere for
focusing on anti-copyright, visually oriented activist
and popular education projects. Prints and reproductions
of work produced during the residencies may be
distributed through the Beehive, as a means to
support this program. This will provide a rare
opportunity for artists/activists to receive this
type of support, as arts residencies are usually
reserved for those with extensive portfolios or
resumes and often are exclusively geared to one,
or the other, types of work.
- To begin work on a Maine based graphics campaign:"Reflecting
the Global in the Local: Maine Issues Mini-Poster
Project." We
will dedicate space for residencies focused on
production of anti-copyright graphic materials
specific to local, turning-point Maine issues,
as well as for use in struggles that are taking
place worldwide. Examples of issues are: water
privatization, sprawl, sustainable energy, domestic
violence, Wal-Mart, counter-recruitment, liquified
natural gas ports, aquaculture, sustainable transportation,
community radio, genetic engineering, immigrant
rights, corporate personhood, preservation of Granges,
etc. Participants for these "mini" graphics
campaigns will work with partnering organizations
that are located in Maine for collaborative design
and distribution. Images produced will also be
made available for use internationally through
the Beehive's distribution networks.
- Over the years, our collective has become increasingly
more decentralized. There are now Autonomous
Bees engaged in Beehive activities in many locations.
The Bees in St. Johns, Newfoundland; Berlin, Germany:
Toronto, Canada; Bloomington, Indiana: and Madison, Wisconsin
are currently looking for wannabees to join them in their
efforts.
