Lectures on Tour |
D
I S M A N T L I N G
M O N O C U L T U R E:
Tales of Ants and
Economics in The Americas
-FEATURING
the
long-anticipated DEBUT of MESOAMERICA RESISTE”
...our most ambitious and elaborate illustration to date ... 2 YEARS
in the making! |
At
long last, the trilogy as one visual tour de
force! |
..a visual
storytelling of the Beehive’s
Graphic Trilogy focused on corporate globalization
in the Americas |
It’s a picture-lecture to be understood by anyone
…
not
just the experts and political analysts!
With three giant illustrated
portable murals, a six foot tall fabric storybook “slideshow”,
and an engaging narrative (available in Spanish or English),
the Bees take audiences on an interactive VISUAL tour
of the connections between COLONIZATION, MILITARIZATION,
and RESOURCE EXTRACTION in the Americas. We will be exposing
the agendas of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, Plan
Colombia, and celebrating resistance to the “Plan
Puebla Panama” in Mesoamerica.
Join in as we deconstruct the complex and overwhelming
issues that are shaping our world, using bioregionally
accurate depictions of animals and insects as metaphors
to link cultural and ecological diversity.
Our swarm is currently booking a
tour path for the next few months, visiting SCHOOLS, ORGANIZATIONS and EVENTS with
presentations of our educational graphics.
We often
collaborate with grassroots non-profit organizations,
teachers interested in digestible discussions that
utilize cartoons as well as facts, and student groups
looking for inspired information. We have flexible speaker
fees, and are happy to do shows for free in community
oriented spaces. (we L O V E high
schools!) But, yes, the
hive needs honey… and we’d really love help
in our fundraising efforts. For universities, we encourage
student groups to take up this opportunity for unique collaborations
amidst art, environmental, Latin American, and peace
groups… Funds from the tours will be used to support
free presentations and distribution in Mexico and
Central America, and the printing of our upcoming poster,
Mesoamerica Resiste.
As well as the trilogy in its
entirety, each individual graphic is still available
as a full length performance. Let us know if you are
interested in a discussion of “the
Free Trade Area of the Americas”, “Plan Colombia”,
or “the making of Mesoamerica Resiste.” (Full
length performances of “Mesoamerica Resiste” by
itself begin in Fall 2007) |

The Beehive has multiple swarms in many locations
in the Western Hemisphere- which means we can
double-book calendar dates. Just because a
date is listed below doesn't mean we can't
come your way!
