Please read on for more information about us, quips about what August will look like at the Hive, and a clear outline of what we expect and need to know from you!

INFO FOR YOU

FOOD

We ask that all that volunteers contribute to the food expenses at the rate of $3 per day, $20 per week, or $90 per month.

Food stamp donations are accepted, but we are requesting that incoming volunteers do not apply for Food Stamps from the Beehive Collective's addresses.

HOUSING

There may not be the ability to house all volunteers indoors at the Clark Perry House, so we are asking for those that are in possession of tents to bring them, just in case. Our yard is big and beautiful and will be full of growing green food plants! If you have special needs and require a spot inside, please let us know ASAP.

ANIMALS

Though the 'Hive absolutely loves animals, we ask that pets are NOT brought to the work party. Both of our buildings are public, and we are trying to maintain a space that is as inviting and open to the public as possible. Thanks for understanding!

in exchange for your help, volunteers will:

...have housing covered while living together with the bees at the Clark Perry House, another beautiful historic building acquired by the collective in 2005...

...have food costs *mostly* covered while joining in the planning and preparation of delicious, nutritious, vegan meals.

...see the fruits of your labors come to life at the THIRD ANNUAL BLACKFLY BALL,
a gala dress-up dance event for all ages featuring live music from bands across the region... presented in conjunction with the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival
and held at the Machias Valley Grange Hall!!

SUMMER GOALS Include

...finishing up the trim on the Grange...
...install railing for our new Grange wheelchair ramp...
clean and organize the Grange...
...decorate the Grange outside and inside for the Ball...
...pack and mail Beehive distribution materials...
roll tons of Beehive posters...
...enter piles upon piles of contacts into our online database so we can cross-pollinate even more effectively...
...minimal gardening chores...
...help around the house, the grounds, and in the kitchen...
